1st Annual Sheltering Arms Car & Bike Show

The 1st Annual Sheltering Arms Car & Bike Show was held on Saturday September 23rd at the Dale Ruritan Club. The below is from an article in the Spruance Magazine.

Spruance’s 3000 Day Club antique car and bike show fundraising event was a great success thanks to the participation of employees, retirees and community members. The first time event raised over $5,500 for Sheltering Arms Hospitals. The Club has raised money for this organization for over 50 years and sponsors various events throughout the year on its behalf.

According to Tom Dunston, outgoing president, there were over 80 cars and bikes on display at the event which was held at the Dale Ruritan Club off Route 10. “Everyone had a great time during the show,” Tom said. “We raised some money for Sheltering Arms and the car owners said it was one of the better shows they have entered. We’d like to do more of these kinds of events to raise funds for the hospital.”

Current and retired Spruance 3000 Day Club members gathered in mid-December to celebrate the successful culmination of a great fund-raising year. Overall, the Club raised a record grand total of $15,281 on behalf of Sheltering Arms. That amount was boosted by a company donation of $10,000. Rick Hodge is shown in above photo as he announced the company contribution.

“I’ve worked for DuPont 29 years at several different locations,” Rick said during remarks, “and the3000-Day Club is one of the employee organizations that I’ve been most impressed with.”
